The Start-up Software Company - How to avoid becoming Road Kill

Most new businesses have to overcome huge difficulties in establishing themselves in the market place. If you intend to set up a software business you will probably face more problems than most. You will be asking to replace a trusted way of processing data and your new technology will be regarded as suspect. Just competing on price, even if you can, does not work. My view is that to compete as a start-up you should follow the now famous “crossing the chasm” model. I personally reckon there are three main stages all based on differentiation then superiority.

A commentary on social and experiential (e-)retailing and (e-)shopping deserts

Purpose – The last ten years have seen a gradual withdrawal of retail facilities from many local
areas and the consequent growth of “shopping deserts” resulting in social and health disbenefits. The
Findings – The internet has limited potential to compensate for shopping deserts, as consumers who

Daresbury Science & Innovation Campus has reached a new milestone in its drive to become a world-class hub of technology and research-driven commerce by attracting its 60th tenant, many of whom are interacting with each other.

All are currently located within the impressive state-of-the-art Daresbury Innovation Centre, one of two new buildings developed by the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) as part of its ten-year £50 million investment in the campus site.
